http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12463/6791399?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Fri, 17 Feb 2017 05:00:51 +0000 Heritage Academy parents disappointed in school response Parents went to the school board meeting on Thursday looking for answers, but they got anything but. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12463/6791399?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KMVT CBS 11 and another under arrest. joe>> last week we brought you a story about parents at heritage academy upset over a survey their students were asked to take. tonight... they brought their concerns to the school board. amy reid sat in on the meeting and joins us now to tell us how it went. parents told me this meeting was a let down. they went seeking answers... but instead... they say they got anything but. ?sequence of angry parents? on thursday... heritage academy parents told the school board what they thought of the survey their students took last week. ?nats of an angry parent? the survey asked questions about domestic and sexual abuse... using terms the parents say their kids didn't know yet... and had to learn the wrong way. ?nats about google? the school board heard comments for the first five to ten minutes... but said they were unable to respond after the public comment portion... the meeting went on as scheduled... the parents became bystanders. sot: we wanted answers... we truly just wanted answers. we completely were sidelined. we didn't get any answers whatsoever. it was... it was a crock. (12 sec) finally near the end of the agenda... the board proposed something that could prevent this in the future... a committee for potentially controversial material. sot: i think that's a great thing... but it would be nice if they would allow us to be a part of that... they need some oversight. (7 sec) after the meeting... parents demanded more answers... but the board said they could not offer them.... to parents or to me. sot: you should be able to get something. we got absolutely nothing. we'll be working on our next steps... this is not over. (8 sec) like i said... the school was unable to comment. one parent told me the principal will have open appointments next week... but won't be able to answer any questions about this. a woman
