What's Appening - Peanut - 2/21/17 Tue, 21 Feb 2017 21:36:22 +0000 What's Appening - Peanut - 2/21/17 What's Appening - Peanut - 2/21/17 KOLR [?] >> joy: welcome back. it's time to see "what's appening," where we show you the coolest apps that all the cool kids use. >> kelly: that's right. >> joy: raising kids can be isolating. it kind of can. >> kelly: okay. >> joy: you find yourself around a bunch of little ones all day. busy moms need entertainment and friends too to hangout to who can relate to the challenge or the juggling act of raising kids. there is an app for that, peanut. this app will connect you with other potential mom friends. it's designed for pregnant moms and moms with kids up to age 16. okay. now, this app will let you share whatever information that you're comfortable with, your ages of your kids, kids you have and things like that. also helps you scope out mom matches based on likes, activity, potential play dates for the little ones. which is helpful. >> kelly: cool! >> joy: whether you are a fashion guru or a geek, you can set up your profile with badges that describe you, like i'm a hot mess. i'm sleep deprived. i'm a spiritual gangster. i put myself in the category of wine time. this also matches single moms and moms with special needs kids, because you can relate to each other. to connect, once you've logged into the system, you wave electronically. and if the other mom waves back, you can start messaging each other and organize group chats. now, peanuts designer wondered why there's so many dating apps, but none to help you find another mom to have coffee with. there are some, but nothing like this. or so they say. right now, this is only available for iphones. but an android version is reportedly on the way. you can actually link it into your facebook to find common interests. so facebook will aggregate for you. oh, look, this person likes to ride a hover board or water ski or cook or whatever. have you ever heard the acronym sahm? >> kelly: no. >> joy: stay-at-home mom. there's a website for with tips and recipes. but the peanut app is nice because you can see another mom with a toddler, and you're standing there with yours, and you go i wish i knew her so i can talk to her. and say, you know, that shampoo right there is really good. you should try it. and they think you're crazy. but if you have the app, you can say we have things in common. >> tom: that sounds like a great idea! also, because it offers, you know, for special needs, for single moms, for all the way up to 16 you said? >> joy: all the way up to teen-agers, so you can relate on that whole level of raising the kids. and meet
