Plus we take a look at Alaskans set to play in the NCAA Div. 1 Hockey tournament, and a wrap up of the small schools state basketball tournament. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12450/6836111?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KTUU it was the last great race, and today the iditarod handing out some hardware at it's annual awards banquet in nome. notables include allen moore winning the sportsmanship award chosen by his fellow mushers. rookie of the year goes to sebastian ver-new as the top-placing rookie. an impressive performance by a musher who began with the smallest team at the starting line, just 12 dogs. cleaning up tonight was montana musher jessie royer winning both most inspirational musher and humanitarian awards mitch seavey's dog pilot won the golden harness award presented to an outstanding lead dog, chosen by the mushers. it's easy to forget about hockey this time of year, but many alaskans will be center stage as the n-c double a reveals it's division one hockey bracket. anchorage's eric schierhorn will be between the pipes for the university of minnesota. already looking to add a national title to his already impressive resume winning big 10 goalie of the year last season. in his way will be plenty of other talent from the 49th state including u-mass lowells kenny hausinger at and truman reed at the university of providence. from college hockey to the nhl.alaska's brandon dubinsky. and the columbus blue jackets facing off against the new jersey devils. columbus looking to continue its success this season making a run for the playoffs. we catch this one in the first period.blue jackets looking to break the stale mate.lukas sedlak with the penalty shot .notching his 7th goal of the season. jackets up one. speaking of penalty shots dubinsky gets an opportunity of his own and converts putting the columbus up three to one. that's all the boys in blue would need as they win 4 to one. a-s double a march madness ... brought tougher competition..highe r stakes..and the ultimate goal of winning a state title. for your viewing pleasure here are some of the best moments fromt the 1-a and 2-a state basketball tournaments.
