http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/3421/6836140?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Mon, 20 Mar 2017 03:35:43 +0000 Roanoke man arrested for making bomb threat near White House Roanoke man arrested for making bomb threat near White House http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/3421/6836140?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WDBJ sara machi, thank you for joining us. we begin with breaking news, the man arrested for making a bomb threat outside the white house saturday night is from western virginia. this afternoon, the metropolitan police department identified the man as 29-year-old sean patrick keoughan , of roanoke. we've been speaking tonight with people who know him, and senior reporter joe dashiell is here now with that part of the story. joe, what have we learned? sara, there are still more questions than answers, but here's what we know so far. sean keoughan grew up here in the roanoke valley. he spent time in the military, serving in the u.s. navy. a search of court records reveals two drug possession charges. family members declined to comment tonight. but one person who lives near his parents described him as a good neighbor. she recently saw him walking his dog. others told us he had struggled with mental health issues. the incident unfolded around 11 o'clock saturday night outside the white house, when police say a 2017 chevrolet impala with an indiana license plate pulled up to a security checkpoint. police say keoughan got out of the car and said "there's a bomb in the trunk," while holding something in his right hand. when keoughan was taken to the ground by secret service, he reportedly said "this is a test." president trump was not at the white house at the time. a search of the car did not turn up any explosives. keoughan was charged with a false bomb threat and unauthorized use of a vehicle. the chevrolet he was driving was a rental car reported stolen in roanoke. tonight, a person who lives near another family member told us "sean is a seriously disabled veteran and i hope now he will get the help he desperately needs. for both himself and his family." sara, we expect to learn more about keoughan's background, and the circumstances surrounding his arrest in washington. and we will update this story tomorrow. at
