WCIA >>ma. you've been at the same job for 20 years but now you want to become your own boss. it's not impossible. >>heather: entrepreneurship isn't just for millennial's. - - for beauty bank is here. startups aren't just for our typically think of millennial's or young people who start businesses. actually, that group is in decline with entrepreneurship. it's actually the experienced that are opening businesses. over the years, louis goodwin of geico are actually in their 50s when they had a lot of success with those businesses. >>matt: you also mentioned reid hoffman on linked in, another great example. they started maybe a little younger but age doesn't actually advantages of being older. with age comes wisdom and experience. some of these experienced entrepreneurs takes experiences from the market. experiences through the industry and they are able to feel more confident about starting the business and feeling like they can be successful. >>heather: they can follow their dreams. >> it takes money so typically they've had time to build up some cash savings to look at their dreams. whereas young people don't have time to build that up. >>matt: i think in this case too, people of a certain age have been told to get that job and stay with it. kind of like their parents or grandparents did. now we have this culture where you want to pursue your dreams. >> it's expensive as i mentioned to save and have enough money to start the business. >>heather: that's when they start their gofundme account. >>matt: probably one way to do it, right? >> definitely. >>heather: it's also who you know. >> a network of professionals. these experienced people have had years to do that. that's another way they can become successful a little easier by being in business for that period of time. >>matt: you guys do wealth management, traditional banking. you are a resource for people in this community. supporting tons of businesses over the years. what do you guys look for when someone says i want to open my own clothing store? i want to do other things. but not everyone is a good like to hear the dreams in here that plan. certainly, you need to know how much money they may be able to put into it. and also they have a plan going forward to manage the process of having a business. it is different than working for somebody. you have to have a plan to work that in itself. >>heather: you have tips for small business owners and entrepreneurs to get that support. i think the first one is checking services to maximize value and minimize costs. what does that mean? >> that's a simple business account, checking account, minimize the costs you have. check. >>matt: you have to do payroll. it gets different and complex. i think that's what you are talking about. >> cash management solutions. keeping things a little bit more on the automated side. you have the credit cards, business debit cards, help your cash flow to be more efficient in your daily activities. >>heather: i can swipe those two. >>matt: but can you pay that back is the big question. however you structure your business, you need to make sure you are on top of these things. you guys have used a network to get some opportunities you may not get elsewhere. >> you see participates in the fpa small business loan program. we also have working capital loans, real estate loans, agricultural loans and community development loans. >>heather: it doesn't matter how old you are, you see can help. >> call one 800 67- uc. call any of the locations in the area. pay attention to our pillar. these topics in our pillar magazine. obtain a copy or go
