http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/3421/6849046?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Wed, 29 Mar 2017 03:02:04 +0000 91 year old woman survives tornado destruction 91 year old woman survives tornado destruction http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/3421/6849046?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WEHT news. brad-- now to a story about an elderly woman who survived in the rubble of her destroyed home -- which was struck by a tornado in crossville, illinois. eyewitness news leanne stuck is here with the story. leanne-- 91 year old charlotte porter was asleep in her bed one moment and burried in rubble the next after a tornado wiped out her home.she made it out alive and tonight shares with us how she survived.(charlotte porter-- survivor)"it just asked the lord what have i done to deserve this and i still wonder "it looks like a scene from a scary movie.only rubble left where 91 year old charlotte parker and her family once lived.though she is devastated she is thankful to be alive.charlotte was asleep when an ef3 tornado hit her home trappng her inside.( charlotte parker)"so i reached over and got my flash light out of my nightstand and i started flickering it"hoping to get the attention of anyone nearby.and it worked.( charlotte porter)"and finally somebody knocked on the window and i said i'm in here " despite losing her home and everything in it charlotte was more devastated that her long time cat lilly was missing.( charlotte porter)"the rain really started to come down fast and it was in the roaring stage and she left me she for afraid and got away from me " but four days later ... lilly was found wandering the rubble that once was her home.and that same day charlotte was back playing the organ at the church that she loves.(dave cochran -- pastor crossville united methodist church )"she has been playing the organ all that time and she never misses if she misses i get very worried about her not being there she has been there every sunday since "the community so thankful she is safe.(dave cochran -- pastor crossville united methodist church )"it's incredible and it is just amazing that she did survive it and she did it because she is strong "when asked what she plans to do next ... charlotte says she will be rebuilding her home. she says her father owned that home for more than 100 years and she wants to rebuild.
