http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12524/6861423?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Thu, 06 Apr 2017 13:03:31 +0000 Backstage with Journey's Neal Schon What does the legendary rocker have to say about the band their changing audience, and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12524/6861423?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WEVV the mid 18-hundreds.... musical acts come in and out of the tri-state pretty quickly. but luckily... our entertainment insider -- gretchin irons -- is here to sit down with as may of them as possible. journey played to a packed house this weekend at the ford center. and while y'all were enjoying the headliner, asia, i was backstage with music legend neal schon to talk about journey, their changing audience, and being inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. check, check... gretchin: does this guy look familiar? he does, because he's the only original member still rocking with journey. and i'd totally forgotten he's played with bad english and santana. so what is it like to be america's go to karaoke anthem? neal: i think that there could be a downside...people just get sick of it because they hear it too much. apparently they haven't gotten sick of it yet. gretchin: no. any time you're in a bar and that song starts, everyone starts yelling, "just a small town girl", even people that can't sing...you know what i mean? neal: i hear about it all the time, yeah. gretchin: your kids will recognize journey from the hit t-v show, glee. neal: i was skeptical and it turned out to be really, really great because it just opened up and broadened our audience that much more. and we have definitely three, but sometimes four, generations of fans out there. our audiences are very mixed, age wise, and that's very cool to see, you know? that means that we've got a few years left. gretchin: p-s, they're being inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame next week, how cool is that? neal: in some respects, i wish i was just going on to play some blues guitar with buddy guy or jeff beck, you know because there's something that's really real and raw about that. and with our songs, i think that they're better when we play live, when we do the special things we do to make them different. and what does he have to say about the rumors that steve perry plans to attend? ..... hashtag behind the scenes, his wife michaele was helping me direct the shoot. she is gorgeous, sweet, and was a real housewife of d-c! tune in monday to hear what neal has to say about perry and the rock and roll hall
