(18 NEWS) - Tom and Lin are not the owners anymore, but the store hasn't lingered too far off their hands. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12513/6896657?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WETM NBC 18 Elmira conversation and remaining silent, we'll not fix the issues." in albany nick perreault another business is celebrating another decade on market street. corning bureau chief michelle ross spoke to the owners of west end gallery today. she's live from our bureau with the store's history. michelle? john, the gaffer district also happens to be celebrating small business week, so it's coincidental that the anniversary is during this time. west end gallery located on corning's historic market street celebrates 40 years in business this week. the gallery was founded by tom and lin gardner in 1977 and has set up shop throughout various locations on the street but currently stands proud at 12 west. now tom and lin are not the owners anymore, but the store didn't linger too far off their hands. jesse gardner: "i was literally raised in the business. basically, a playpen in the back room where mom and dad were." jesse gardner, their daughter, bought the business with her husband john in june of 2015. but before making the purchase from mom and dad, she worked in corporate america for five years in colorado. and even though she had her husband with her, she was still thousands of miles away from the rest of her family and home. lin gardner: "they both had great jobs out there, but their heart was here in corning with the gallery, and i'm happy to know that they're going to continue this business for years to come." jesse says she just knew it was time to make the move. as far as the secret to staying in business for so long, she credits the hundreds of artists they've worked with, every customer that has walked through their door. but most importantly, she says its the determination of her parents. jesse gardner: "their hard work and effort throughout the years, they just, they work so hard, and i admire that and have all my life." jesse's mother, lin, continues to work there full time. they will be celebrating the anniversary this friday with a ribbon cutting with a reception and live music to follow. a new exhibit is also on display named "now and then" featuring work by her father, tom. reporting
