"state of downtown is an annual event that viva downtown hosts each year in order to recognize those people and those businesses that are making significant and important contributions to downtown." corbetts restaurant is one of the staple businesses downtown...boasting 35 years on pine street. "some of the changes have been great, and some have not been fast enough. i'm very excited about them opening up the streets to two way traffic, yuba and butte, and i'm excited about the dickers building." corbett's referring to the downtown redding specific plan update which outlines ways to improve transportation and bring more businesses downtown. "the plans call for certain improvements that help make downtown a more amenable place to be." like many downtown businesses, corbett's parking lot usually looks like this...and it's hard to get a spot on the street... "i hope the city can make some changes, we have a parking meter mel sings the praises of the city... "i love my corner. i love downtown, i'm glad i'm a business person in downtown redding." and in the future... mel hopes to see more pedestrians and cyclists... "we now have bike trails, along the highway here, which is great. we get a lot of people biking on the weekends that will stop and come in for brunch." ...at the state of downtown... five businesses and individuals will be spotlighted...
