President Trump's cabinet member in Utah to talk small business Wed, 21 Jun 2017 12:39:20 +0000 President Trump's cabinet member in Utah President Trump's cabinet member in Utah to talk small business KTVX ABC 4 Salt Lake City >> you're watching utah's first television station celebrating 70 years of being good for utah. >> welcome back. we're talking small business. they are important in each of our communities. president trump picked linda mick man, the co founder of wwe administration. she is visiting us now in our state and our city to talk about all this. good morning linda. good morning. thank you for having me on this morning. so happy to be here. >> we're happy to meet you. let's talk about salt lake city and what have you planned for the next few hours you're here. and it's nice to be here to talk about sba. what sba does is na what i found when i came to the acts agency was it is a well kept secret. you think loans but it's so much more than that with our counseling programs and score initiatives and we have young entra pa knewers. women's business centers and native outreach. so much that is part of sba. so what i'm trying to do is get that word out hence my visit which is what we're calling the ignite tour. we had a smashing spark conference weeks ago and now we're igniting everything as we go around the country and sawk about sba and what they do and hopefully through interviews like this able to get the word out about sba. i'm here to visit the district office. 68 district offices in the country. at least one in each state and often more depending on the stieftz and population so. i'm here to visit small business. have a business round table and just the whole tour is for me to listen and to educate folks about what sba does to take their questions and bring them back and advocate for them in washington. which is so amazing. let's talk small businesses. why are they so important and why is their success so vital to each community around the country. >> reporter: sn. >> small business is the back bone of our economy. more business start ups. especially with the new administration. a feeling p optimism in the air. and they there are more start ups with men but more women are starting businesses which is terrific because small businesses start. they hire people and create more jobs. they pay more taxes. they buy more product. they then support the communities in which they are located. then, if they happen to be an export business. they are spreading now that economy even outside the united states as well. which is so great. with our new administration with our new president this. a big initiative for him which have you been chosen to help lead. talk about the plan over the next few years as he is president. are you going to continue with these miftionz visiting or other big plans for the future for small business. well, yes, i have 68 districts to visit. light of trips. and u.s. territories. but president chose me for this job because i've known him for about 25, 30 years but he knew that i had built a business from the ground up. he knew i wow could walk the walk and take the talk with small business soz he wanted someone who understand. that it is his really goal as part of his administration to help small businesses grow. he wants to have tax reform. regular you loo la tory reform. healthcare reform and those three things not only help big business population at large but also really support small businesses to help them grow and floor rich and as a said earlier, when they start developing and hiring more people, it's just more jobs and it's just a great positive domino effect. >> for everyone. yes. >> let's talk about your, i don't think we can call it small business but wwe, you helped to start. that talk about that experience and how it heppedz he prepare four this new one. it started the business. we shared desks in our basement and we were a small little business in kind of a northeastern part of country and we developed and grew it and went all across the country and we went globally with the brand wesm took the company public in 1999. and now it is seen in over 180 countries and translated in 25 languages. and making a big impact and filling lives with happiness. do you note job description at wwe every day is to put smiles on people's faces. that's the job description. we love. that lynn darks thank you so much for ep joining us. please enjoy your trip today. thank you. it is a little warm ievment was in vegas yesterday, it was 116. then today is way better. we're just having a whole cold front come through at 100. at 100. that puts it all into perspective to. learn more about spa and linda's visit
