BLESSING OF THE BIKES Sun, 16 Jul 2017 22:04:51 +0000 BLESSING OF THE BIKES BLESSING OF THE BIKES WJET roar on the shore 2017 has come to an end after days of everything motorcycle. motorcyclists gather one last time in a finale to roar on the shore.jackie roberts spoke to bikers about how they wrap up the celebrations.hi jackie jackieall week bikers have been telling us about the sense of community they gain from bike rallies like roar on the shore.and today they leave the festival in what they describe as an emotional and connected setting. after the celebrations and excitement of roar on the shore......bikers take a moment to pause. before sheryl hetricks hops aboard her bike and rides off, she bows her head in prayer. prayer."everybody is so united up here and when you leave here, it's such a rewarding feeling"dozens of motorcylists gather alongside hetrick for the 11th annual blessing of the bikes outside of the presque isle downs & casino. volunteers with the christian motorcylists association form prayer circles......sharing their mission statement "riding for the son." organizers tell us the most rewarding part of the event is giving people a chance to recieve the word of god during their travels. travels. "if you can feel a little bit of that safety from that and that assuredness that the lord is watching also, that's what we want to get across." across.""bikers say after the ceremony, they have an added sense of security getting back on the roads." roads.""peace of mind, just knowing that we've got a guardian angel with us." ((nat))the most recent pennsylvania statistics indicate more than three- thousand motorcycle accidents per having a shield, gives the bikers a sense of relief.riders tell us ceremony allows them to feel connected and safe in their travels.and as they set out after the week in erie, they say they know they have god cruising along with them. "we are gunna take a long ride. we're not sure where we're headed. wherever our bikes take us." some of the bikers we spoke to tell us they've been their vehicles blessed for years. they say the ceremony is the perfect way to wrap up roar
