http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12451/7041896?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Sat, 12 Aug 2017 03:24:25 +0000 oach’s Corner: Keith Hatcher of the Mount de Sales Cavaliers MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In 2016, the Mount de Sales Cavaliers finished with a 2-8 record. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12451/7041896?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WMGT 11:15. as i mentioned there in the scoreboard, mount de sales fell to central tonight, 27-7.. but the cavaliers and their coaching staff expecting a better 2017. here's the second part of coach keith hatcher' talk with our bill shanks. bill: back with kieth hatcher now from mount de sales. we talked a little bit about the offense, which we know is always important at mount de sales. so about your defense, you've got 6 back on defense, what does it look like for you? coach: we've got a good group, six of them are returning starters. some of them are more productive players from last year. safety luke leatherwood. middle linebacker should be an area of strength for us with sayid wonna who was very productive last year. adam mills who's a starter for us last year. and dane fryer will be one of our top defenseive lineman. justin lucas is another guy. so we've got several really productive players coming back. we've just gotta gel as a unit, fly around be good tacklers and see what happens. bill: since your offense is going through a little bit of a change, are you gonna rely on your defense a little bit to keep those scores down until your offense gets its feet under it? do you think its gonna take a while for the offense to make the adjustment or are they gonna be okay? coach: we've kind of stepped back as a staff and said what do we need to do to be more competitive on friday nights.we've gotta be better on defense. got to be able to stop the run, and to run the ball. so thats kind of a goal that we had as a team going into the season. bill: is that also in part maybe an answer to this region because of the competitive nature? i think especially since its been a couple years that all 4 macon schools made it into this region 7 in single a. we're seeing the type of competitive football that we were seeing a decade ago when they were in the g.i.s.a. is that part of that thinking? coach: it really is. i think 5 of the 7 on our side of the subregion made the playoffs last year. its a very run oriented group. so you have to be able to stop the run. got to be able to play physical football. and youve got to be able to run the football yourself. so weve kind of geared our team and our goals during the offseason toward that; bill: we talked in the first segment about the fact that youre in year 4 now. and how
