MUSSELMAN C2K Sat, 12 Aug 2017 03:32:33 +0000 MUSSELMAN C2K MUSSELMAN C2K WHAG it's time for some football -- our countdown to kickoff coverage continues with musselman...> the appelmen had an outstanding regular season last year -- but they came up short in week 11...> that's something musselman is looking to rectify in 2017...> << musselman has made huge strides leading up to week 1. i think we've had a great offseason. i think the players have worked really hard and we're in really good shape. this is my fifth year as coach and in my five years as head coach, i feel like this is the best shape we've been in. well our attitude had to change. we really tried to push ourselves harder. that extra effort combined with a solid group of returners -- make the appelmen a threat on both sides of the ball -- especially with their ground attack. probably going to be about the same -- pound it up the middle. we still have our returning running lost a couple linemen but our line should be good again. we're still going to have a very offense but i think our defense is going to be our strength. i think we're really going to be able to line up and stop people. despite an 8-win season last year -- the home playoff loss to jefferson in week 11 left behind a sour taste. it never leaves your mind. it's always your fuel -- you always remember. unfortunately that was the worst thing that happened to us last season and that's the only thing we think about. we use it during the offseason. it makes us lift more weights, it makes us run more sprints. last year going 8-2, we just want to take the next step. we just want to move forward. so we were just saying 8-2 or better. we have goals. we want to go 9-1 or 10-0. we want to have the home playoff game. we want to win. for musselman -- success directly follows hard work. i really demand the effort. i'm really strict on the effort because i tell the kids that's one thing they can always control. so i'm really big on the kids every single day, coming out, controlling that effort and being able to play with high energy. every year we want to stay humble and stay hungry. we do everything together. we win together and we lose together and i want that home playoff game and i want to win that home playoff game. with the appelmen, i'm matt finkel -- wdvm sports. >> matt: next up it's one of musselman's rivals -- martinsburg
