WFFF megan in community matters... on labor day weekend, you can play soccer in jericho, and help a good cause at the same time! i'm joined by soccer for soles founder emma forsyth and heather didrichsen , the soccer coach at browns river middle school. in jericho, vermont students have created a 3v3 soccer tournament and festival called soccer for soles. this festival was created to raise money and collect used soccer equipment to make the sport of soccer more accessible for underprivileged youth. the soccer for soles team has partnered with soccer dreams without borders to help distribute used soccer equipment and raise money to fund national and international youth soccer programs. in 2016, soccer for soles was able to raise $4,000 and have over 30 teams participate. soccer for soles was founded by ayla york, emma forsyth and devyn beliveau-gale in 2012. "this event has been incredibly fun and rewarding." said forsyth, of jericho, "but we still have a great need to continue to raise money, awareness, and collect soccer gear." the soccer for soles committee have all been helping to coordinate the tournament for five years and are the founding participants. "we have helped so many people and just the idea of being able to help kids experience the sport they love gives us a sense of satisfaction. and we enjoy spreading that sense of satisfaction to the other people in our community that can help out." said york. "not only do we enjoy hosting this event so we can help out in every way we can, we also think it is important to just spread awareness." said beliveau-gale. as a result, soccer dreams without borders was able to provide 38 kids with soccer jerseys. the fifth annual soccer for soles tournament will be held on sunday, september 3rd from 11:00am-3:00pm. the festival will be held at browns river middle school in jericho, vermont. teams can register now! for more information and to register go to /site/soccerforsoles/home. soccer for soles is held rain, or shine. about soccer dreams without borders soccer dreams without borders (sdwb) provides educational opportunities to impoverished children living on the street, orphaned, living with life threatening diseases or have parents who are dying of hiv/aids. soccer dreams without borders distributes used soccer equipment and organizes local soccer teams to help transform the lives of
