Liotus Sportscast 09 12 Wed, 13 Sep 2017 03:25:05 +0000 Liotus Sportscast 09 12 Liotus Sportscast 09 12 WVLA the southern jags are looking ahead to their match up on the road with the utsa roadrunners this week...but injuries causing them to be without some key players.quarterback austin howard, running back herb edwards, and defensive tackle, simeion houston will all sit.but -- they're trying to take positives away from their loss agsinst southern miss on saturday.the defense is confident after their second half performance and they're looking to build off of that. i watched the film and i see we gave up three points as a defense in the second half. they scored a pick six-- against a fcs opponent i just take away the positive. i mean negative is going to be there, but if you harp on the negatives your never grow. us being leaders on the team, we have to pull a positive out of everythingi feel like our guys came out and compete it in the second half. you know way better than we did in the first half. i feel like them competing like that we can take that to the next game. whether it was a tough loss or not you know i feel like it's always something to build from it. lsu also prepping for their next match up -- their sec opener against mississippi state.we're in week three of the season, but the tigers still have some unanswered questions. one of those -- who is their kicker? field goal kicking has gotten off to a slow start...the team is 3 for 6 on attempts. jack gone-sa-lin has been battling it out with connor culp.but as culp says -- it's a healthy competition. its part of the job we have 3 great kickers and we're competing all the time,. no job is set in stone it makes us better as a whole rather than haveing one we have three that all push eachother. i havent been told anything but i feel at the end of the ween who will have done better will probably be the place kicker on saturday we've seen a fair share of injuries so far in the nfl -- and you can add saints' right tackle zach strief to that list. strief left the game last night against minnesota in the second quarter after suffering an mcl sprain according to the nfl network. looks like he'll be out a few weeks. strief has missed just 2 games since 2013.of course -- losing strief is a blow to a saints line that is already without left tackle terron armsteadryan ram-check is starting in that position and gave up a sack monday night. good news on the lsu basketball recruit naz reid verbally committed to the tigers today.the 6'11 -- 240 pound 5 star power forward made an official visit to lsu earlier this summer... and it seems the rest was historyhe's the number 15 overall prospect in the country.the new jersey native will now get to play with ja'vonte smart who committed to lsu earlier this year.i would imagine coach will wade is sleeping a little bit easier tonight.. 3 3
