Tanner Mangum expected to miss Wisconsin game Thu, 14 Sep 2017 00:22:30 +0000 Detmer hoping offense improves Tanner Mangum expected to miss Wisconsin game KTVX ABC 4 Salt Lake City dana as byu gets ready for perhaps their biggest challenge yet...against 10th ranked wisconsin... the questions persist...will tanner mangum play...will he be out for several weeks.. well offensive coordinator ty detmer wasn't saying much today... 04-10 1:14-1:20 so will tanner mangum play on saturday? detmer: i can't say anything right now. we don't talk about injuries and reps and those sorts of things. so, we'll just kind of see what happens come saturday. did he at least practice today? detmer: i'm not going to talk about who is practicing and who is not. ok, ok. mangum injured his ankle on byu's final play against utah. so it looks like redshirt freshman beau hodge will start on saturday, but detmer says they won't need to change the offense much. detmer: i don't think we do. it's something that all of the guys on our team have been practicing for a whole month of training camp. so, you don't just go change everything and try to invent a new offense in a week. even though byu is averaging a paltry 11 points per game, detmer says the opportunities to score are there, but the execution has just been off. detmer: we're playing good defenses, teams that can play. we haven't played to our standard yet, though. we see things on film and we're leaving a lot of plays on the table out there, either guys are open or we drop a ball. there will be a change at running back as ula tolutau, who orginally signed with wisconsin out of east high school, should get the bulk of the work. tolutau: it's changed dramatically now that i'm cleared to play. i'm seeing more reps in practice, and it feels good to be out there with my brothers, so i'm excited. i treat them like any other team. of course it's
