And believe it or not, college basketball practice starts today. Why Missouri State has some reason to be excited for the future http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12450/7109129?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KOZL SPRINGFIELD, MO--Paul Lusk's Bears will tip off practice Friday. In our Bear Nation Report, there will be a number of new faces. But there will also be familiar faces, one of those is Kickapoo product Jared Ridder. Ridder officially joined the Bears Wednesday after transferring from Xavier. As a Chief, Ridder was a four star recruit and Missouri's Gatorade Player of the Year. He averaged 24 points and nearly 7 rebounds a game his senior season. Ridder won't be able to play until the 2018 season, but can practice immediately. "I actually haven't watched him for a long time because he made his decision going into his senior summer, we didn't watch him that much. He's grown, he's probably 6'8", he's put on some weight, he's a talented player, he can shoot the basketball, " says Bears coach Paul Lusk. "But I have never had a chance to coach him on a day in day out basis, that's what we are looking forward to. I think so many times from a transfer stand point it can be viewed as a negative thing but I think this will be very positive, for him and for us." ------- In Major League Baseball: The Cardinals were eliminated by the Chicago Cubs in 11 innings. Paul DeJong was robbed of the game tying homer on the final play of the game. Cards fall 2 to 1. And in Kansas City, the Royals fell to the Tigers, 4 to 1, at Kauffman Stadium.
