http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12495/7109977?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Fri, 29 Sep 2017 21:08:22 +0000 092917 Dan Johnson Talk Music & Veterans, CV Live Dan Johnson of band Dan Johnson and the Salt Cedar Rebels tells us about his current album project, plus Operation Hemingway shedding a light on veteran suicide. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12495/7109977?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KLST $11. >> welcome back to concho valley live. thank you for coming back with us. >> we have the new album that is about to come out. we have everything recorded and done. we took a week and barricaded ourselves and went to the military base down in austin. we went over to traditional stuff and recorded with 146 infantry which was a super cool experience. definitely something unique to say that that you were able to do. >> a friend of mine works there on the base. because of the nature of this upcoming project we went into that. that's where all the military bands rehearsed and have recording studios where you have things like that and recorded the album there. >> how long with that process? >> we spent three days and three more days doing the stuff you have to do when you get the main parts. >> this is a very exciting album. something different than what you've done in the past. this is our first and have two and one regional. it's a first big national and it will be. >> that's exciting. and you are busy with operation hemming way, too. >> i appreciate that. >> if you are not -- i guess it is coming up on two years and we put it organized last year about this time. it is it he was injured in the military. when he came back he had -- that led him to a lot of depression and worthlessness. >> sit between 18 and 22 every day. what upset me more sr. finding how it was actually being done. if you get the proper type of treatment there's a lot of people that can be saved. their entire lives are impacted by that. what i made up my time to do. we raised money in the communities for the organization that was actively working. that anybody traditional therapy sessions that may be a retreat. we have one that we work with that is a service animal a very specific service dog. a lot can support that. you raise money. then we've got the share ^py -- all of the different things that were found to be effective. we work with them. and then i personally spend my time volunteering to the group. what we do is a group of musicians comes together each week and we offer and we give the lesson. they tell their story and we craft that in music. it takes something so painful and turns into a beautiful piece of music. >> there a's what we do. that is actually called hemming way. that is also here. that is the song and a portion of all the proceeds from the fold are in that album and everything and then you go to operation hemming way to help fight the battle. >> you have been touring with special events that are involved in that. if you do want to know more about it -- about the schedule and everything. >> go to operation heming way.org. the way we start this that is we normally have to have a sponsor i get the ball rolling for you. we find additional sponsors an bring in a concert where we bring in are local musicians and put together a day of music and we go help support and if you want myself and the band. you will find our web-site and find facebook and all that stuff. >> thank you so much. it's all that you were work on. that
