WCIA fresh and fast is brought to you by market at the square. >> if you love italian, i mean, who doesn't right? and you love pizza. then today's recipe is going to take it to a whole new level. >> natalie joining us from market at the square today. and i love this idea because it's got cheese. cheese makes everything better. >> it looks like pepperoni i'm thinking. but this is no pizza crust. >> just spaghetti squash. >> i love squash. i especially love butter nut squash and spaghetti squash. this weather makes you feel like fall might finally be here. a lot of people just scoop it out and put it in a bowl and might get kind of wet and soggy sometimes. but there's better ways to bake it especially when you can bake it and knead it out of the squash. even less you have to clean up later. >> easy clean up. >> one thing i don't like is cutting it from the get-go. it's so hard to cut. >> so there's a little trick. and i've tried it a couple of times. first of all, for this recipe i look for something a little bit smaller. so then it's easier to cut and handle. but i've heard and tried if you put it in the microwave -- the whole hunking thing. microwave it for a couple minutes then let it sit out then cut it and makes it a little bit softer. be careful because it will be warm especially when you go to scoop the seeds out. you don't want to put it in there too long. >> and squash has a done -- pumpkin squash, everything in that group has a ton of health value. >> oh yeah. the great thing about this is you can have a little pizza bowl in this base of it, the spaghetti squash is 20 calories. >> really? >> that's it? >> we were talking pumpkin yesterday. and pumpkin seeds. i'm seeing seeds in here. can you roast spaghetti squash seeds? they look like pumpkin seeds. >> i've done it before. >> really? >> yeah. >> why not right? if you are putting this in the oven i worry it's going to dry out. is there enough moisture in it if you are just, you know, because that's your plate right. so it will survive that? >> definitely will. especially because we're going to mix in some spaghetti sauce and the cheese has a little bit of its own oil in it. so will keep it moist and yummy. then depends on what you put in there. there's a little bit of oil from the pepperoni if you choose to put meat in there but you can put sauteed vegetables. the possibilities of pizza toppings are the same. >> you've got little ones is this a kid friendly recipe. >> most definitely. especially because it's fun and you can get them involved. i mean, not in the cutting part. but, you know, the part of where you can scoop the seeds out. they love to do that. or when it comes time to rake the spaghetti squash. >> how long did you have to bake that. >> 20, 25 minutes. >> i would let it cool before you let the kids handle it. just let them rake out the squash. once they are kid part in the recipe preparation they have a sense of investment. this is something they made and they will enjoy eating it. >> is that how it gets the name like spaghetti. >> exactly. it's xraz i how easily it pulls apart like that. >> i have never thought about, like, roasting my pepperoni before i use it. but i saw you have these in a skillet. >> yeah. >> why? >> it makes them crunchy. so it gives it crisp to contrast the soft texture of the spaghetti squash. once we scoop this in here and add the sauce, cheese and pepperoni it's only going to go back in the oven for a few minutes for the cheese to melt and have that nice pizza topping look. so you want the pepperoni to be crunchy. then it gives you something to eat. >> this is really good. it does have a little bit of that crunch. >> it's tis tasty. >> sauce, cheese and pepperoni and the big reveal coming up. we're out of weekends for the market. >> there's only a few more. i think we're down to the final four of the 2017 outdoor season. then we're going inside. the urbana business association will bring it inside. they have a big season lined up ready to go. we have four more left. this weekend is art at the market. another free fun activity and still lots more to come. >> i love it. >> lots more to come here with our friends natalie and maria. you will find their recipe on after today's show. >> they're always simple and natural and you can get the stuff you know exactly what's in it. and you can pick it up at the market. >> and it's delicious. >> still to come for you an expo that focuses on women's health
