Hello Movie Maniacs! Thu, 12 Oct 2017 11:24:47 +0000 Box Office Buzz - October 12, 2017 Hello Movie Maniacs! KOZL Hello Movie Maniacs! New on the big screen this week: HAPPY DEATH DAY (UNIVERSAL PICTURES) - A teenage girl, trying to enjoy her birthday, soon realizes that this may be her final one. Unless she can figure out who her killer is. She must relive that day, over and over again, dying in a different way each time. Can she solve her own murder? Mmm, I WONDER!?! Slated for release in Springfield is MARSHALL (OPEN ROAD FILMS II) - This is about a young Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American Supreme Court Justice, as he battles through one of his career-defining cases. Strong cast in this flick of Chadwick Boseman, Kate Hudson, Sterling K. Brown and several more. This is a cool tidbit: this is the fourth biographical figure played by Boseman. He has also starred as James Brown, Jackie Robinson, and Floyd Little. This kid is rather underrated! Tops at the box office last week: BLADE RUNNER 2049 finished number 1, however, a little bit lower monetarily than the studio would have preferred. THE MOUNTAIN BETWEEN US, followed, it's a decent movie, not life changing in ANY way. IT staying strong at number 3. MY LITTLE PONY at number 4? OK, over THE KINGSMEN? AND EVEN MORESO -- OVER AMERICAN MADE? That is SO baffling to me. The fact that STRONGER starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a Boston bombing victim is NO WHERE in the TOP 10 is nuts … what the heck movie going public? New on Blu-Ray this week: BABY DRIVER (TRISTAR PICTURES) - After being coerced into working for a crime boss, a young getaway driver finds himself taking part in a heist doomed to fail. Ansel Elgort and Kevin Spacey, along with Jamie Foxx and Jon Hamm star in one of my VERY FAVES of the year! This film has an exquisite soundtrack, it's fast, it's fun … it's simply COOL! Locally: October is the best month to have a Friday THE 13th … and, The Moxie Cinema is celebrating the day by showing 1973's THE EXORCIST! for tons more info! Connect with me!
