Blue Devils Look to Knock Off Top-Ranked Norfolk Catholic Thu, 12 Oct 2017 23:22:09 +0000 SportsZone GOTW Preview: Wayne Blue Devils Look to Knock Off Top-Ranked Norfolk Catholic KCAU game of the week will take us down to wayne america where 8th ranked wayne will look to avoid becoming the answer to a trivia question. as they take on #1 and unbeaten norfolk catholic and head coach jeff bellar looking for the all-time career wins mark in nebraska... the history of this matchup is pretty one sided. dating back to 2006, the teams have played 13 teams and all 13 times have seen the knights come out on top. but this year could be different. the blue devils have secured their first winning season since 2013 and have matched their win total from the past two years combined entering with a 5-2 record. wayne definitley has respect for what the knights have done, but unlike in years past, they're not about to lay down. they're ready to fight and win! sam bruckner "well i mean they're a solid team and they're a well coached team too and i think i feel it's a game we've just walked into thinking we might lose and i think this year it's really changed this year, because we have this mentality that we want to win, we've worked hard for it and we keep working hard for it." russ plager "just have a lot of respect for what they've done as a program, what coach bellar has done. i think that has really nothing to do with us. it's about what we do, how we prepare, how we go about the ball game, so we're going to try and take care of us." beau bowers "we just got to get into our game, we need to do the stuff that we need to do, our line needs to work hard, our backs and special teams need to work hard and everyone does their job, we'll get it done." russ plager "we have to be physical, end of story. i don't care what we run on defense, what we run on offense. with the type of players they have, we're going to have to be a really physical football team, so we're going to have to play down hill on defense and we're going to have to be physical on the run game if we want to get something going." sam bruckner "it's an emotional game for everybody i think and that's proven over the years. we've had a couple of ejections and we want to keep it clean and we want to play hard and win this game."
