Theta Chi and Phi Gamma Delta are attempting to break the world record for longest baseball game ever played. 74 hours, 26 minutes, 53 seconds according to the Guiness World Record Books. These players are aiming for 80 hours, non-stop. The game had reached the 36 hour point early Friday morning at Barnhouse Field west of Springfield. There aren't many spectators for this scheduled 80 hour game. The players themselves are playing in somewhat primitive conditions - sleeping in shifts in RV's - charging their cell phones on a single power strip in the dug-out and battling fog. "I slept on the floor of that RV with one pillow and one blanket," says MSU senior Kody Kingree. "I ended up just sleeping in the front seat of my truck," adds Michael Glover. "Waking up this morning was pretty hard - I felt good, until I woke up this morning. Pretty stiff," Glover admits. "The RV was like Antarctica," Kingree says. The fatigue is worth it, though. Money raised by the marathon is helping fund USO. It's money that Theta Chi and Phi Gamma Delta hope lasts longer than the longest baseball marathon ever played. "Our goal was $30,000," says Glover. The game itself is set to end at some point Sunday morning.
