http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12450/7290228?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Tue, 13 Mar 2018 03:25:53 +0000 Bosse basketball overcomes adversity Bosse basketball overcomes adversity http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12450/7290228?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WEVV semi-state next in sports. bosse boys basketball is going to semi-state for a third straight year.... the bulldogs have been one of the top programs in our area for years... but to get here...the bulldogs have had to embrace a lot of adversity on and off the floor... but clearly, that's not getting in the way of their success. nat shane: you don't know what the next day is going to bring. and for us, that's a way of life. this is how shane burkhart describes the day to day lives of many bosse students.... nat he would know. burkhart is more than the school's head basketball coach.... he's viewed as a father figure to many of his players. jojo: home life...for these kids. shane: tough....i'm going to leave it at that. it is tough for those teenagers, and soon to be adults..competing fro a state title.... their days don't end when the noise leaves the gym... for some, it's probably just beginning...hours before schools starts back up the next day. it's an amazing thing in some of our lives. um....wow. uh, what we take for granted. what we take for granted to be able to set an alarm clock. um, have breakfast. you know, clean clothes, water, it's not always an advantage here. but the players take advantage anyway - of what the school has to offer... which is a strong support system that believes in their abilities beyond putting a ball through a hoop. a lot of them they struggle with issues outside of school. and school becomes a save haven for them. and because of that it is always important to always make connections with them, establish relationships with them, and at my age be their grandmother. jaylin: she know what we been through. she knows what we are going through, so anything she says we are locked in and it goes right to the heart. bosse basketball would know, without heart, nothing is possible. because if they always took in doubt and judgment that come their way... they couldn't unleash the extra fight they put out on the floor. nat jaylin: we know there's people out there here who don't want to see us....like they don't want to see us make it. the chip on our shoulder is that we are always getting over-looked as individuals and as a team. principal: often times bosse is not looked at in the way i feel that it should be looked at. but anyone over-looking the bulldogs should take another peak... there's something special brewing....whether it's a state title....or what these players are going to be all about when the noise leaves the gym... principal: i've never been ashamed to be here at bosse and never will be. our doors are always open.
