Derby Fashion Tips Fri, 04 May 2018 13:28:18 +0000 Derby Fashion Tips Derby Fashion Tips WTVQ Lexington, KY c1 3 sarah enlow is here to show us what is trending on the track for derby day. welcome to the show. how are you doing today? sarah enlow: good, thanks for having me. interviewer: i'm super excited to have you here, because i for one, need some tips on what you need to wear. i mean, there's such a wide variety. tell me what you got going on, any secret tips you have for us? sarah enlow: well, there's still a little time before the big derby day to get the perfect dress and the perfect hat or fascinator to match. i have a couple of styles to show you from dillard's of fayette mall to give you some idea of what's trending for spring and for derby this year. first, i have madison. i love this dress. interviewer: it's so pretty. sarah enlow: this is just so beautiful, it's on trend this season because floral is everything this year. it's all over the place. whether it's printed, kind of like what i'm wearing, or if it's embroidered, like what madison has on. and i love the off-the-shoulder look, you're going to see that a lot of places, it's really comfortable. also, the see- through sheath at the bottom really helps add a little extra elegance to this outfit. interviewer: okay. really nice. sarah enlow: now i love this because with the fascinator, you don't want to go too big if you have a lot of pattern, or embroidery, or anything on the dress. interviewer: okay. sarah enlow: keep that a little simple. so we just paired a nice little fascinator with some feathers on it for her outfit here. interviewer: perfect, so that's kind of the secret there? sarah enlow: yes. interviewer: on a busy dress, a little softer when it comes to the fascinator or the hats. sarah enlow: right. and the same thing with jewelry and accessories. interviewer: okay. sarah enlow: you let the hat be the star of the show on derby day. so you can really go all out drama wise with the hat, but you don't want to take away from that with big earrings, or big statement necklaces, or anything like that. a simple bangle and maybe some stud earrings is really all you need. interviewer: all right, perfect. sarah enlow: yeah. interviewer: i love it, and i love that there's still plenty of time to pick out the outfits. we have another one on deck. sarah enlow: we do, we have one more. interviewer: yeah. sarah enlow: so irena, if you'll come over. we have this beautiful white dress. interviewer: so pretty. sarah enlow: this is also showing that you can go a little bit bigger with the hat, and a little bit more drama up top if you're keeping it a little bit more simple on the bottom. interviewer: okay. sarah enlow: so with this, again the off- the-shoulder dress is beautiful. you can go with a plain color and then you can accessorize a little bit more with something like this that matches the hat. just pull out a color of the hat and go with that. but i love this off- the-shoulder, especially with the little bit of pleats around the edge. interviewer: well, i love this. i'm loving all of the big hats, they are so pretty. sarah enlow: right. interviewer: i need to get one of my own so i can fit in with you guys, but they're absolutely beautiful. lots of good tips for folks heading out to the derby, any other little tidbits or secrets that we need to add on? sarah enlow: well, make sure that you don't have a bag that's too big for derby, they have size specifications so make sure you keep it small. interviewer: okay. sarah enlow: and if it's going to be windy, you might want to try going with a fascinator instead of a big hat, because it might fly off. and with fascinators, usually it's a headband, like what i have on, so that it stays a little bit more snug on your head. interviewer: perfect. sarah enlow: yes. interviewer: and not too bad, it may be a little bit rainy, maybe a hat, a fascinator and just an umbrella. sarah enlow: you might want to bring a poncho. umbrellas are not allowed inside churchill. interviewer: really? sarah enlow: so don't bring your umbrellas. interviewer: okay. sarah enlow: but take one of those little poncho's and stick that inside your little clutch, and you'll be good to go. interviewer: all right, perfect. well, thank you so much for coming out here today. sarah enlow: thank you. interviewer: love all of the tips. where can people maybe go for more information. sarah enlow: you can find more at shopfayette-, or follow fayette mall on facebook and you'll find lots of information about race day fashion and everything you need for spring. interviewer: perfect. well, thank you so much for coming in today. sarah enlow: thanks for having me. interviewer: make sure you stay tuned, we'll be back after the break. we
