sports sports sports Mon, 07 May 2018 23:23:50 +0000 NCAA Women's Golf Regional at University Ridge sports sports sports WISC it's a big week for women's golf at university ridge.. for the first time since 1998, wisconsin is hosting an n.c.a.a. women's golf regional with 18 teams hoping to get to the n.c.a.a. championships in stillwater, oklahoma next week.. you couldn't help but notice that north dakota state was there.. look at that sweet bus that carries the bison from fargo to madison.. it's about 7 and a half hours from fargo to madison-- 503 miles on i 94... what a great day for a golf tournament.. sunny skies and warm temperatures -- and they really dressed up the course too with flags from all 18 teams participating.. lots of local flavor with the badgers in the tournament.... verona's jessica reinecke won two w.i.a.a. state individual championships on the university ridge course. she's the badgers number five player and shot 77 today.. the big story for the badgers is gabby curtis.. playing on her home course, curtis shot 35 on the front and 32 on the back with five birdies.. that's a 67 - 5 under par to share the individual lead after the first round. you need to be one of the top six teams to make it to the national tournament and right now, wisconsin is in sixth, two shots ahead of seventh place illinois... virginia has the team lead at 9 under, four shots ahead of duke and six clear of southern california. individually, curtis is tied with virginia's beth lillie at 5 under.. stoughton's becky klongland shot 73, reinecke with 77, and for north dakota state, oregon's taylor mccorkle shot 79 and middleton's alexis thomas
