http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12449/7358011?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Wed, 16 May 2018 02:46:02 +0000 Reitz Senior Battling Cancer Goes to Bat on Senior Day Reitz Senior Battling Cancer Goes to Bat on Senior Day http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12449/7358011?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WEVV it's always tough for athletes to call it quits... some retire by choice....some leave the game because they have to.... but one reitz senior is still playing the game he loves...while battling a deadly disease. nat: next up number 5 camden hancock. senior day is the final chapter for many high school athletes... when that day comes, they know their days of repping their school colors are almost over. but for reitz senior camden hancock....senior day is a pep rally for what's to come. scott: you could tell by the look on his face that he was very excited about it.... scott: i walked away so i could gather myself so it's just a happy moment for everyone. and the battle begins now. camden was diagnosed with brain cancer last week... but that didn't keep him off the field against mater dei. sara: it'll be the last time he's in a uniform and he wanted something special, so with coach deweese and coach rickets... ....they came up with the plan to make it special for him. in fact, the panthers made him their lead off hitter in the first inning... nat and with the wildcats approval...they let him walk. nat camden: it was exciting because i didn't even know they were going to do that. and it just felt really good.... ....i was really surprised when they told me i was going to run to first. they were going to pitch to me and i was just kind of surprised and happy that they did that for me. dyke: i didn't actually think that he would get on the field again after this has happened. but, after watching him today to see how he's been acting, he's home for where he's at right now on the field having fun with his friends.. when we named camden our athlete of the mont last week... we learned that the tumor doctors removed from his brain nearly a month ago was cancerous.... and spread to his brain... because it's a rare form, it needs to be treated. dkye: that's a parent's worst nightmare to to have your son and have them come tell you that he's got a brain tumor, you're in shock. sara: he is just the most upbeat kid for the diagnosis that you can imagine. nat but before the game, camden got some good news. because he is 18, doctors believe he will accept treatment well.... and is getting a second opinion out of state. scott: i don't think any of this phases him. he's just a very strong kid. and if anybody is going to get through this, he's going to do it. camden:i'm just ready to take it on. ready to
