Part 2. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12451/7385656?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WMGT c1 3 b15 little rutland ball. coach daniel let's be honest, the offense has kind've beena problem for several years even going back to before when you got there for this program. you're not looking at a lot of young players for the offense but you've got some qb competition in august that you'll be paying attention to won't you? mark daniel: yes, we've lost our 2 qb's for the last 2 years so that's going to be like a tryout i guess. we've got some other young guys stepping in there this summer working at it, making a lot of improvement so we'll see how that pans out when they all get together onto the field in full pads but we're hopeful they'll come around they've made a lot of progress in the short time w've had them in the summer, that's promising. bill shanks: jesse phelps, you'r fullback, he's a young player a sophomore, but he's had some playing time there for you is that right? mark daniel: he started as a freshmen last year, played on defense too so uh we had a lot of that last year and we're going to have a lot more of it this year as we've lost so many players. so phelps will be anchoring the backfield and he's a really tough youngster so we're excited about having him in there this year bill shanks: your offensive line is going to be a working progress as well. only one returning starter, you've a new player jacob newberry. are the bodies there, you've got a big work in progress for those kids too? mark daniel: yeah, well, here's the problem with the line. you know most teams, the success comes from the trenches. when you have a young new line, they may be gritty they may have a little bit of ability, they may even have a little hype byt they don't have the strength to ball carry yet so we'll struggle up front early on because of that lack of strength when they go against a senior laden team. that's always an issue. they guys are there working and learning, i'm going to tell you waht, if they hang in there these next couple years they'll be somebody to reckon with. bill shanks: all right, well it'll be a work in progress for rutland, the first game will be on aug the 23rd against hawkinsville at ed defore. coach daniel, thanks for coming in, good luck to you mark daniel: appreciate being here,
