http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12490/7385727?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Thu, 12 Jul 2018 23:14:01 +0000 The Shoals area is courting development from Mazda Toyota plant Mazda Toyota manufacturing plant may bring thousands more jobs with offshoot companies http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12490/7385727?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WAAY ABC Huntsville, AL today huntsville mayor tommy battle announced offshoot companies from the mazda toyota manufacturing plant could create thousands of jobs across north alabama. waay31'sbreken terry shows us how the shoals is preparing to attract some of those companies. i am here in rogersville at their industrial park where the shoals economic development authority is building a 40,000 square foot facility and they are trying to attract some of those automotive offshoot companies to come in. battle- first and second tier automotive plants may be coming in to areas all across north alabama. huntsville mayor tommy battle spoke to the shoals chamber of commerce thursday about the economic impact the 1.6 billion dollar mazda toyota plant could have on the shoals. battle said offshoot companies could bring in thousands of more jobs. battle- when you really look at it instead of 5,000 jobs your probably looking at 18 to 20,000 jobs all across north alabama. there are some suppliers who want to be 50 miles away from the manufacturer. and the shoals economic development authority said they are working to attract some of those automotive businesses. jackson-we've been very proactive in the shoals with our development of spec buildings and industrial land to suit these suppliers. kevin jackson, the vice president of the shoals economic development authority said their spec building in rogersville will be done in august. the 40,000 square foot facility is up for grabs. and they've had some interest in it. jackson- of course we've had mulitple projects that have looked in the area but we can't go into who those projects are but yes there has been interest. the shoals economic developement authority is also building another 100- thousand square foot building in muscle shoals to attract more industry. the muscle shoals building is expected to be done by the end of this year. in rogersville bt waay31.
